Introduction: The Bottom Cao Qing Superb Mud, made in Huang Long Mountains in Yi Xing City, Jiang Su province,
belongs to purple mud family. The run of mine ore of purple mud generally can be divided into three categories including
First Cao Qing, Second Cao Qing and Bottom Cao Qing. And this superb mud from the bottom of the purple mud, with high
performance has always been the preferred choice among the potters of all the dynasties and the classics for centuries as well.
Also it is the favorite superb mud of the late master Gu Jingzhou. And the name of the ore originated in the dialects of its producing
region in Yi Xing City, because people worried that the others will be confused with the name after clinging to its dialects for
a long time, they have just literally translated the dialects according to its pronunciations and thus named it ”Di Cao Qing”.
The superb mud firstly originated in No. 4 Well in Huang Long Mountain, then No. 5 Well in Huang Long Mountain and
Tai Xi Mine. Because of coming from the bottom of the bottom of the purple mud, the brown superb mud has been widely used in
the master potters of the modern times with fairly good texture, refined shales and subtle fineness. The Bottom Cao Qing,
which is purple with green lights, of great fineness and purity and thus very rare, lies in the bottom of the ore with
turquoise corns and cat’s eyes in lumps.
Producing region: recently the No. 4 Well in Huang Long Mountain has been closed for the reason of collapse, therefore gradually
comes the shortage of the ore resources and the remained, accumulated and weathering Bottom Cao Qing has been more and more
precious day by day. The purple sand in Yi Xing has been renowned in the world, which does credits to the superb mud.
Temperature in the kiln: about 1180 degrees centigrade.
Shrinkage ratio: about 12%.
Characteristics in brewing the tea: gentle and elegant, the lingering charm of the tea will be immersed in the teapot and lasting for
a long period. With the time goes on, the color of the mud will gradually change from the brown to the pale violet, which will make the
teapot more simple and elegant, smooth and bright.
Suggestions for brewing: various Pu-erh tea, Oolong raw tea(lightly roasted series), Longjing tea, scented tea, Biluochun Tea,
black tea and green tea and so on.
